Town of Braselton
Chateau Elan Lift Station No. 2 & No. 3 Replacements
Barrow and Gwinnett Counties, Georgia
The Chateau Elan resort and residential areas have been a major economic
engine for the Town of Braselton for over 20 years. The Chateau Elan complex
spans over 500 acres and this northwest area accounts for almost 50% of the
water and wastewater demand of the systems.
Due to the topography, the area is served by a series of five (5) wastewater
pumping stations ranging in capacity from 500 to 1,500 Gallons Per Minute
(GPM).
Chateau 2 and 3 were installed in the early eighties based on the design
standards of that time. Over the years and after pumping essentially millions of
gallons of wastewater, these two stations reached the
end of their useful life and were in need of complete rehabilitation and
replacement.
With a limited site to work with, the existing facilities had to be able to continue
operations while the replacement facilities were being constructed. This was
accomplished successfully, and the specific components of the work were: The
replacement of two existing duplex pump stations, including removal of
existing above ground stations, rehabilitation of existing wetwells,
reconnections to existing gravity sewer and forcemains with 75 L.F. of 8-inch
gravity sewer, 100 L.F. of 15-inch gravity sewer, five (5) each manholes, 75
L.F. of 10-inch forcemain, and 10 L.F. 12-inch forcemain. The upgraded
project also added enhanced odor control, upgraded site screening and
landscaping and improved telemetry.
