2007 – Construction of a 1.0 MGD wastewater treatment plant SBR activated sludge plant. The City of Jefferson’s existing 0.5 MGD Central City Land Application System WWTF was struggling to keep up with the treatment load created by increased development. To solve the issue, Jefferson decided to construct a new 1.0 MGD plant and obtain a direct discharge permit. This project included a new headworks and influent pump station, two Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) tanks, a digester and post equalization tank, a new chlorine disinfection system, and a new sludge dewatering belt press. Services provided included all EPD approvals; Design Development Report (DDR); Environmental Report (ER); Public meetings; project funding; engineering design; construction management and observation; Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual and operator training. EMI is also under contract to operate the new 1.0 MGD plant.
