Town of Braselton, Jackson County, Georgia
2001-1.25 MGD plant expansion and conversion to urban water reuse quality waste water treatment. The Town’s existing treatment ponds and LAS were converted to a reject pond and storage pond. Reject water not meeting urban water reuse quality was allowed to be placed on the LAS areas providing redundancy. The Town also constructed 5 miles of water reuse distribution lines to commercial/ industrial areas and the golf courses on Chateau Elan Resort. An additional spray field of 15 acres was also constructed adjacent to the plant in conjunction with the project providing an additional 100,000 GPD in land application capability. Services provided included all EPD approvals; Watershed assessment; Design Development Report (DDR); Environmental Report (ER); Public meetings; project funding; management of design-build proposals; design build contractor selection; construction supervision; Operations and Maintenance update (O&M) manual and operator training. This project received the Georgia Trend Magazine “Trendsetter Award” in 2004.
2008- 1.25 MGD expansion of the urban water reuse facility and renamed to a water reclamation facility (WRF). The WRF obtained a direct discharge permit and was allowed to discharge into the Mulberry River at two locations. Coupled with this effort was installation of a 1 MGD pumping station which carries reuse quality water to an elevated reuse water storage tank, and provides reuse water to residential and commercial customers. Services provided included all EPD and COE approvals; supervision of soils analysis; Design Development Report (DDR); Environmental Report (ER); Public meetings; project funding; project design; easement and land acquisition bid phase management; construction supervision; Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual and operator training.
2010-2013 – Four major roadway improvements projects occurred that affected the Braselton Water and Wastewater System. In 2010 construction commenced on the Braselton Highway 124 project which reconfigured Highway 124 through downtown Braselton. Simultaneously Jackson County’s Zion Church Road project also started construction in 2010. In 2012 two more Georgia DOT sponsored road improvements projects started construction; the Highway 124/211 Intersection project and the reconfiguration of SR 347 Thompson Mill Road. All of these projects consisted of extensive relocation and replacement of water, wastewater and reuse infrastructure. EMI completed initial cost estimates, DOT Utility Aid applications, survey, design and coordination with Georgia DOT and the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.
2010 – Upgrade and replacement of the Industrial Park Wastewater Pump Station and the 124 Pump Station. Both of these pump stations were dilapidated and in dire need of replacement. Both projects included construction of new pump station and wet wells, new forcemains, generators and odor control systems adjacent to the existing pump stations. After the new pump stations were put on line the existing stations were demolished. EMI completed the initial project assessments, cost estimates, and funding applications as well as survey, design, bid phase management and construction observation and management.
