Clayton-Rabun County, Georgia

The Clayton-Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (CRWSA) manages a water system that is in immediate need of expansion and extension.  The Authority’s water treatment plant is the sole provider of water to the entire service area and is currently permitted for 2 million gallons per day (MGD).  Total water demand for the area has met or exceeded 2.0 MGD many times.  Census reports predict rapid increases in population growth.  Some existing residents currently use private wells that have been compromised, if not completely dried out, due to drought conditions.  Immediate service is required in this area to prevent health and sanitation problems, as well as to provide fire protection.  The Authority contracted with Engineering Management Inc. to increase capacity at the water treatment plant from 2 to 5 MGD, and to extend the water distribution service area by over 20 miles.  The project is currently under design and moving toward completing funding arrangements.
